In case you haven’t heard it by now, the MOA canceled its Summer Lineup of concerts. There are no more concerts scheduled.

I’m SHOCKED at these concert cancellations. SHOCKED, I tell you, just SHOCKED.
Seriously, though, if you’re remotely surprised by this, you need to take a cynicism tablet.
I look forward to the announcement of the 2013-14 season so that it can later be canceled. I say the MOA should go for broke, schedule all kinds of Xenakis and Schnittke, and get a free ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming out of the deal.
I hope to have more concrete suggestions of What To Do soon. I’m in touch with some really fabulous people from all walks of life, and we’re discussing how the hall re-opening – not to mention, Osmo’s imminent resignation – is going to change the dynamics of the conflict. Every stakeholder is going to have to make a decision as to how they’re going to react. I hope we all react wisely, prudently…and effectively.
In the meantime, what are your thoughts? What are some constructive steps you feel patrons could take once the hall is open to make their respectful voices heard? Please talk with your friends and family. If you choose to comment here, keep in mind the MOA Is Watching, so if you have a particularly genius idea you don’t want them to know about yet, keep it to yourself for a while…

Just think how much fun it will be when the MIA gets Mr. Richard Davis elected to its Board of Governors! More pickets, anyone?
Maybe, maybe not. As best as I can tell, Davis is already on the MIA board; the piece in the Strib didn’t make that clear. Still troubling, though, and still indicative of someone who cannot possibly be taking all of these positions remotely seriously.
Get rid of the board and have a Minneapolis Orchestra with a new one. The current board is a disaster and I do not understand why the Mayor has not gotten involved. Chris Coleman did on the other side of the river!

But the mayor is not running for re-election, which makes it perfect for him to intervene. Later, we will remember and vote him in when he does run for another office. He will be a savior.
He’s also trying to get a deal worked out with Wells Fargo concerning the new stadium… I’m not sure if there’s any connection or not.

Good to know.
I’m concerned that waiting until the new hall opens for citizen demonstrating will allow precious time to go by. We need to visibly make our displeasure known ASAP. Ideas, anyone?
